Kinesiology means "the
study of movement". It is a therapy that uses muscle monitoring
(biofeedback) via nerve pathways and the meridian system to look at
what may be causing imbalances in the body.
Initial research began
in the U.S. in the 1930's and was expanded in the 1960's by
chiropractors including techniques derived from Chinese medicine using
acupressure and meridian systems. Kinesiology combines this knowledge
with modern muscle monitoring techniques to balance the client.
Kinesiology balancing
is able to facilitate the natural healing process of the body.
Kinesiology encompasses
a vast array of balancing modalities with most of these emphasizing the
power of emotions, particularly unresolved negative emotions.
Consider how mental
tension is felt as a tight jaw, headaches, tensed shoulders and an
upset stomach. This is a purely mental event projected by the mind into
the body as a physical sensation.
An unlocking muscle
test indicates a disturbed energy flow - be it structural, chemical,
nutritional, mental, emotional and spiritual. This stress may manifest
in the client as some form of disease, poor nutritional or postural
habits, personal trauma or crisis, even as a behavioural issue.
Stresses can also carry over from any time in the client's life.
In a Kinesiology
balancing session these stresses can be identified and the caused
imbalances addressed.
Kinesiology does not treat diseases, nor does it diagnose them. It is
however used for
- Relief of pain
- Stress and
confusion
- Depressive
tendencies
- Digestive disorders
- Fatigue and tiredness
- Back pain
- Behaviour
problems
- Allergies
- Nervous
disorders
- Injuries
- General
wellbeing
- Muscular
disorders
- Nutritional
deficiencies
- Emotional problems
It is beneficial to
have a series of treatments. Muscle testing is totally painless in a
Kinesiology balancing session.
For animals the
practitioner usually works with a surrogate. This person gets balanced
first.
British
Parliament Definition of Kinesiology:
"Kinesiology, literally
the study of body movement, encompasses holistic health disciplines
which use gentle muscle testing to monitor information about a person's
well-being. It originated in the 1960's, combining Western techniques
with Eastern wisdom to promote physical, emotional and spiritual health.
Kinesiology identifies
factors which block the body's natural healing processes. These
dysfunctions are rectified by attention to reflex and acupressure
points, the use of specific body movements and nutritional support.
Kinesiology can relieve
pain, stress, muscular and nervous disorders, detect allergies and
nutritional deficiencies, assist with psychological and learning
problems, stimulate energies and release untapped potential."
