TTouch
Tellington TTouch is a gentle and
powerful method of working with animals without the use of force or
fear.
It is a useful tool for dog owners wishing to do anything from building
a bond with their new puppy to those training their dog for
competition.
The Tellington TTouch is a specialised approach to the care and
training of our animal companions to complement medical treatments and
enhance traditional training methods.
Developed by internationally recognised animal expert, Linda
Tellington-Jones, this method can improve performance and health and
presents solutions to common behavioural and physical problems. It also
helps establish a deeper bond between humans and animals through
increased understanding and more effective communication.
The techniques are based on a similar set of body awareness exercises
for humans developed by Moshe Feldenkrais; the principle is that the
exercises interrupt unacceptable behaviour patterns and responses and
allow acceptable patterns to develop.
TTouch is a method based on circular movements of the fingers and hands
all over the body. The intent of the TTouch is to stimulate the
function and vitality of the cells in the body and to activate unused
neural pathways to the brain.
Using a combination of specific touches, lifts, and movement exercises,
TTouch helps to release tension and increase body awareness. This
allows the animal to be handled without provoking typical fear
responses. The animal can then more easily learn new and more
appropriate behaviours. By using the TTouch and a variety of other
tools, like the Flower Essences, EFT and acupressure, the animal is
supported in experiencing self-confidence in previously frightening
situations. Even the most difficult problems are often eliminated.
This gentle method is
currently being used by animal owners, trainers, breeders,
veterinarians, zoo personnel and shelter workers in several countries.
